JAPAN STUDY TOUR

Susan Mathison

I am a sixth grade social studies teacher from Durham, New Hampshire. I love to travel and experience new cultures and share them with my students. Having this as my first trip to not only Japan but also to Asia was awe inspiring! What an experience.

Japan Tour 2010

I am so thankful to the Five College Center for East Asian studies and the Freeman Foundation for making this opportunity available. What started several years ago with an (and I am not exaggerating here) AMAZING seminar has led to a dream opportunity to visit not just Japan but also Asia for the very first time. Thank you Thank you Thank you!

  • I was so grateful to be included in this fabulous trip to Japan in July of 2010. The people on the trip were amazing, the tour was planned perfectly and truly one of the best experiences of my life.

  • My main goal of this site is to share with you my experiences in Japan and to encourage others to join the Five College Center to learn more about East Asia. It is only by sharing experiences with people from around the world that we can begin to work together and end the stereotypes and prejudices that prevent peace.

I found the people of Japan to be amazingly kind, helpful and sweet to a man (and woman)! I am very saddened about their suffering because of the  tsunami and earthquake in March of this past year. I have attached links to some site I found helpful though I can't attest to their validity.
